The PNA Board Knowlege Sharing Program consists of two efforts: A PNA Test Drive program for non-PNA Board members to ‘test-drive’ attending PNA board meetings and a PNA Board Knowledge Sharing program for current PNA Board members to learn other Board positions.
GOALS
The Test Drive program goal is to introduce new people to serving on the PNA Board.
The Board Knowledge Sharing program goal is to facilitate succession planning and backup skill coverage for the Board.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS
Test Drive:
- Participation is limited to current PNA members.
- The application to participate is found on Google Forms here.
- Capacity is limited to four Test Drivers at a time.
- Term is about a year but can be extended if both the Board and Test Driver agree.
- If desired, a mutually agreed upon mentor can be appointed for a Test Driver.
- Applicants can participate in the Knowledge Sharing Program or shadow specific Board positions after attending 3 PNA Board meetings.
- Obligations: attend at least half of the Board meetings (Zoom) per annum.
- Benefits:
- Allowed to participate in board meeting discussions (no voting)
- Ask questions during a 5-minute Test-Drive Q&A session at the end of Board meetings
- Suggest agenda items
- Share experiences that can be used constructively to inform the PNA Board pertaining to the needs of the PNA community
- Opportunity to learn about, and perhaps participate in, USMS events at the national level (Relay, Annual
- Meeting, national committees)
- Develop beneficial relationships within the PNA community and expand your peer network
PNA Board Knowledge Sharing
- Any board member may ask to learn or shadow another board member to learn about the position or how to do the work required by that position.
- Training period is dependent on the job
- Training someone doesn’t mean the trainee assumes the position upon completion of training. Whoever is in the PNA Board role maintains it until they resign, aren’t reappointed by the Board, or are removed by the Board for cause.
